The Challenge
A large international Games Studio faced a complex set of challenges within the Internal New Games Department. The team worked with other studios in different countries, which introduced varying cultures and ways of working. The challenge was to improve collaboration across the project, clarify roles and responsibilities, and align the team around a shared vision, ensuring seamless integration with external partners.
The Goal
The aim was to enhance team collaboration, increase focus, and improve ways of working. Specifically, the client wanted to establish a common culture and effective ways of working across the project, create a unified leadership team, and design frameworks for decision-making, goal setting, and role clarity.
The Solution
I worked closely with the leadership team and across multiple teams to create new ways of working and implement rituals that promoted clarity, ownership, and effective collaboration. Key actions included:
Clarifying roles and responsibilities to improve team structure and efficiency.
Designing and facilitating a new planning cycle that was tailored to the needs of the team.
Coaching leaders and teams on culture, collaboration, and running effective meetings.
Facilitating a highly successful 3-day offsite for 150 people, designed to foster alignment and engagement.
Aligning ways of working across internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth collaboration.
The Result
The collaboration across the project significantly improved, with teams becoming more engaged, focused, and aligned. The newly implemented structures and processes helped distribute ownership and leadership throughout the organisation, resulting in better decision-making and clearer goals.
